The route traced from the machine to the exterior hood, including anything concealed in a wall or ceiling.
Clear the duct
Rotary brushing along the whole length with vacuum extraction, not just at the ends.
Check the hood and flap
The exterior termination cleared and the flap checked so it opens and closes as it should.
Verify airflow
Airflow tested at the vent after cleaning so we can both see the job is done.

Is the lint filter not enough?
No. The filter catches a fraction of the lint. The rest travels into the duct and settles along its length, particularly at bends and at any crushed section.
