Large trees overhang my chimney. Should I be concerned?
For draft and debris, yes. Overhanging canopy drops material into an open flue and can disturb the airflow over the top of the stack, which shows up as smoking on breezy days. A capped and screened flue solves the debris, and we will tell you if height is the other half of the problem.

How often should the chimney be swept?
Once a year for anything you burn regularly, and the industry standard is an annual inspection regardless of use. If you burn most evenings through the winter, or you burn wood that was not fully seasoned, it is worth doing before every heating season.
